Awakening was far from the quality and quantity of game that I would expect with a $39.99 retail price tag. Many games...even some Bioware games, have had more extensive and story-based FREE downladable content than this mediocre appendage provides for such a premium price. Aside from a couple of cameos, there is no connection to your previous character in the original Dragon Age: Origins. One character does find his way to your companions list, but it isn't like this is a true part of the original game. If you build a new character from scratch to play this expansion, the one Dragon Age: Origins character won't acknowledge having known your character before...despite the story line allegedly being an extension of the original...wherein you would have definitely known this character. There is no life to the game at all. The companions you are provided lack depth. There is no getting to know any of them. The writing was terrible as well, it appears that a couple of angry teenagers wrote the script. All the companions talk about is how much they hate each other and hate your character. Really...why stay then? This was a terrible addition to an incredible game. Bioware really phoned it in with this one...I hhope they take lessons learned from it and make something better for the next expansion. Thisone is so bad I couldn't finish it. Got to the end, the final battle was a joke, escaped out, put the disk back in the box, put the box back on the shelf, will not be putting it back in unless Bioware does some serious fixing. Oh...and Dragon Age: Origins was an incredibly stable game...crashing only once during the entire 3 play-throughs I invested...that's about 350 hours. This expansion crashed or froze frequently. If you are thinking of buying this game, don't pay full retail for it. You will be disappointed.Read full review
Very Good expansion. Plays like the original with a few additions. You can import your old character or start a complete new one. Nice timing for this release, just as I finished my second playthrough of hte original.
Dragon Age Origins: Awakening is a actually a pretty good add on to the main game. It has its own storyline and plots, and is engaging as well. It seems to add at least 10 hours to the game, for each character. And as in the original game, each character with a different origin will have a different set of responses for some of the situations. This adds to the re-playability of the game. The entire series has been good so far, with only a few exceptions. The fan based mods for the game are very extensive and add more to the game as well. But none of the fan based mods match the Awakening for drama and story lines. Good game. Enjoy it.
Absolutely love it! Definitely worth the money!
