    Chinese but much heavier built than later Ridgid models

    This is a very strong saw, intended for industrial production with steel bar, angle and pipe. The base is heavy cast iron rather than the lighter steel stamping used on newer Ridgid “cut-off machines” and all the similar Chinese models sold by everyone from HFT on up. The down side, of course, is more weight. But if you value rigidity- no pun intended - and can’t find or afford an even older US-made chop saw, this Chinese Ridgid is the best of the breed.
