Not your typical emotional devotional!
31 Days of Praise is different from other devotionals because it focuses on God and His faithful attributes rather than me and my problems. Although I typically don't care for prayer-style devotionals, I love this one. The prayers originate from scripture. And to prove it, the author lists all scripture references used. I love to look up each verse. In doing so, I feel like I grow to know God better and can't help but praise Him. Ruth Myers wrote these devotionals as a young widow. Her testimony of praise through immense hardship is so inspiring to me. God instructs us to live a life of Praise, but for me it was difficult to know where to begin. After reading this book, I feel like I have a much deeper walk with the Lord and can't help but praise Him! This is a wonderful book of 31 days of Christian meditations on praise. In the Bible we read that we were created to glorify God and this book helps us do exactly that; further, we are taught that "He inhabits our praises," a beautiful promise. I have used this book for years, and love to give it as a gift. I keep it in my car, and always manage to find a few moments in the day (in carpool, waiting in line at the bank, etc) to use it. In this book, there is a short discussion for each day of the month, on an area where we can give praise. Ruth Myers shares her thoughts and her life with us as we go through the month, and there are suggested verses at the end of each meditation for further study. She is such a gracious writer, and solid Christian, that you are in good hands with this ... This is a wonderful book of 31 days of Christian meditations on praise. Ruth introduces us to a lifelong journey of praising God through the use of Scripture. She uses daily patterns to train you in praying/praising God in all areas and circumstances of your life. It will refresh your spirit and lay a solid foundation for a more intimate relationship with the Lord. I recommend you take it as a monthly challenge for the rest of your life - or until it is so natural you do it from your heart.
