The printer itself is awesome, easy to use and simple to setup. The issue is the cartridges. The concept is a great idea, but the printer is discontinued with 3D systems, so the available one are going through the roof. Thankfully there are some great after market mods, that let you configure this little workhorse to use bulk filament. Since the mods, mine has run almost nonstop. Get one and look at the mods. Once complete, you will have a phenomenal little 3D printer.

If you want a 3D printer for a hobby then you've found the one, but if you want to actually be able to print and use the things you make, keep looking. The build plate is at best, average, you just can't print anything very big, and what you do print will either have strands of plastic all over it, or it will take 15+ hours at the high quality print settings. I got about 15 prints in and then the cartridge malfunctioned and it no longer feeds plastic :( 70% of the plastic is yet to be used! It really is a cool idea, but you quickly can see the flaws in the design and the technology as it's such an inexpensive 3D printer. My suggestion: If you really want a 3D printer, save up a few hundred more dollars and get yourself a bigger, better printer.

The reason I give this 3 stars, is the "Smart Cartridge" design. When you first think about it, its a awesome idea. Then you go to buy some, and realize this little printer is discontinued, and they are $60 each. If you buy one, my first suggestion is to print the parts for the no cartridge feeder, then perform the firmware hack. Once you do this, you will have a great little 3d printer. The actual function of the device is as good as my larger printer, and I now run more than one. If you are looking for a plug and play printer that really only needs a couple of feed mods, this is your baby.

I Printed A 56 Hour Print Job On This Printer Not One Imperfection. The Only Down Side Is Filament Is 50$ The Filament If Fact Lasts A Long Time But Hard To Find. When I Got My Cube The Original Box Must Have Been Opened At One Time Because None Of The Tools Where In There And The Glue That Goes On The Plate Was Dried Out Because It Was Opened. You Do Not Have To Use The Glue I Use Masking Tape and Just Switch It Out After Every Few Prints. The Glue Is About 20$ Your Choice, Either Way It Does The Job. There Is No Support On This Cube So If It Breaks Your Out Of Luck. This Printer Is Very Loud. The First Day I Got It I Printed A 9 Hour Vase Over Night And It Kept Me Up All Night. Make Sure You Set Up The Printer Somewhere Where Its By Its Self. You Can Hear The Motors Struggle After It Being Ran So Much So Be Wanred The Quality Of It Not That Well Unless You Use It For Small Projects. Majority Of The Project Ive Been Doing Are 8 Hours And Above On Highest Detail.Read full review

Bought my 1st Cube3 in Mar 2015 new for $1000 and spent the next 18 months learning the pros and cons. The printer is kid friendly (have 9 and 11 year olds). It does print good quality objects. It has it's cons but I will say that if this is your first 3D printer - BUY it. The one I just bought (my second) was only $170 because the company discontinued the model but they told me they have no end of life plan yet for the consumables (cartridges, print plates, plate glue) so at this point so to me it's a no brainer. This one will likely be donated to a local school. Once you learn the ropes of designing and printing in 3D then get a next generation newer printer - which you will spend between 1500-5k for. My biggest complaint is the cartridges need to be handled with extreme care or the filament will break. The repair procedure is easy to do. As far as plate adhesion etc it works rather well. The printer is for a NOVICE in 3D printing as it does not allow for the multitude of variable adjustments like other (but that is what you need for kids) - think of it like a point and shoot camera vs a professional Nikon or whatever. All of the advanced settings are taken care of for you in the built in slicing software.Read full review
