    Best bench top drill press going!

    For a small wood shop that’s used a cheap, 10 inch box store drill press for years, this Nova is literally the best investment I can think of. The direct drive set up is as accurate, consistent and powers through hard woods of all species like butter! I can honestly tell anyone that it’s worth its weight in gold and I should’ve bought one many years ago!! No more messing with belts and pulleys and the electronic depth, speed and stop settings give me total piece of mind at the turn of a dial. Love it!

    Huge positve, a few niggly negatives.

    An innovative and highly technical drill press with some absolutely great features, and some weird, idiosyncratic negatives. Positives: Direct drive and computer controlled, it is unique at this price point. So long as the electronics hold up, this should be a great drill. Negatives: Bench top stand pipe is a little short - would be more useful if 6" taller. Slots in table are not close enough to the center making an adapter necessary to mount a cross-slide or vise. There is a lot of play in the rack and pinion for the drill slide. There is no mechanical drive spline lock for keyless chucks - very annoying. An linear mechanical depth stop would be better than the one provided (and the owners manual should mention that there IS a mechanical depth guage with instructions on use!) Overall the ...
