    Great representation of the civil war

    I thoroughly enjoyed these movies. I read the book Killer Angels which the film Gettysburg is based off of and I was completely hooked! Watching the movie was moving and entertaining. We split up each movie across a few days making it like a series. We enjoyed both and the actors were very believable as their characters.

    Gods and Generals / Gettysburg

    Gods and Generals is the most historically accurate retelling of the events and characters of The War Between The States ever produced, true to history. The research that went into making it accurate is amazing, a lot being actually word for word from history. Not only was the story retold accurately, all the little nuances were correct (down to it being filmed in the correct seasons of the year) and the actor Stephen Lange researched Stonewall Jackson (whom it was largely about) so well before playing the part that it was him in every facet! Hu-rah that this is the truth retold and not what you were taught in school as what was rewritten! If you want real truth, this is it, very dramatically done as it and the persons really were and portrayed as if you were really there. Not a dull ...

    I live in Gettysburg. Unfortunately, the Civil War was extremely bloody. It was about SLAVERY, even though Southerners such as General Stonewall Jackson always emphasized that “it was God’s call”. It was “to defend Virginia, his homeland”. Fortunately for the future, the battle was won by the U in USA: UNITED. If U had fallen, North America would have repeated the bloody history of Europe — but only for a while.
