At the time of the release of her debut, Circle of One, Oleta Adams was best-known as the impassioned backing vocalist on Tears for Fears' 1989 album. CIRCLE OF ONE is a solo effort by R&B diva Oleta Adams. A gentle CD commanded by few arrangements, mostly just piano, bass and drums, which reflect Adam's gospel roots. Her voice can soar with intensity, hanging onto notes for dear life, or sudddenly drop into hushed intimacy. Adams voice roams freely, in this collection with depth and warmth. Oleta Adams - a CD
I have been a fan of Oleta Adams for quite a while. I first "discovered" her when she had the hit song "Get Here". It is a touching song of lost love, either thru death or an everyday breakup. If you have experienced either of these things (and who hasn't had their heart broken at least once in this life?) you can appreciate this song and many others on the CD. What a huge voice... and in such a tiny body! I first saw her in concert with Tears for Fears during their Sowing the Seeds of Love tour, and heard her do "Woman in Chains" and was blown away. I had this album on cassette tape, and wore it out listening to it. Everyone remembers her for her ballad "Get Here", the unofficial anthem from the first Gulf War, but she is so much more than that - in addition to her voice, she is also a phenominal piano player and composer.What a huge voice... and in such a tiny body!
