PondExpert PondMaster 1400w Vac
After recently taking a full day to manually remove 25 years of pond debris prior to laying a new liner on top of a damaged original and having to find somewhere to dump all this muck i thought, never again. So i decided to buy a pond vac and hopefully going forward stay ahead of excessive build up. I have used the pond vac just once so far and of course i didn't need to vac that much off the bottom. It appears to work fine, is quite straight forward and easy to use. I found experimenting with the angle of the hose head attachment affected how it manages the pick up. I cannot tell how it would cope with sludge yet but it collected enough green muck etc in the bag placed on the end of the discharge hose to see the evidence. Found the hoses plenty long enough and the start/stop feature ... This only works by gravity expulsion of the water, for the instructions to suggest the waste water is disposed of!!!! is ludicrous, as it would mean topping up your pond with tap water?? So to avoid this I purchased their filter basket, around £40! Do not believe the photos on the vacuum box that both products can sit on the same level. The vacuum has to be higher than the filter basket to work.If you intend to empty your pond in the process of cleaning out sludge and discard your water as suggested, then thats fine, but it doesnt make sense!!! UPDATE, 8th JUNE. On the second time of using this vacuum it has not bloody worked!! Instead of sucking up the water the machine is blowing in both modes, Pond/Indoors! My pond had a deep 2 year layer of muck on the bottom and the fish were constantly stirring it up so the water was permanently cloudy. Spent a couple of hours vacuuming it and it now has only a fine layer of particles which the fish do lift. I shall vacuum it again in a couple of weeks trying not to stir up the fine layer of silt. Works well has good suction but you do have to be quick at the cleaning as you don't get much time before it goes off for emptying the water out .
