Black Hawk Down
Bowden is not a military historian, or wasn't one until he wrote this book. That is not necessarily bad, either. Some military historians are boring, Bowden is not. The heroism of our soldiers as they held off city is unparalleled and is chronicled well in this book. I have read a lot of military history, but some of the events that occurred in the Battle of Mogadishu were surreal. For example noncombatants normally flee battles, there, they flocked to them.
