About this product

Product Information

A beautiful actress, a gifted dancer, a fiery screen temptress linked to some of the most handsome men of her generation, Rita Hayworth seemed to live the life that dreams are made of. But the reality behind the fantasy was a harsh one. Sexually abused by her father as a young girl, Rita constantly searched for a man to save her, marrying five times. At the age of forty-two, Alzheimer's disease began to ravage her mind, cutting short her career at its peak. A haunting and sympathetic tribute to the talented but insecure beauty who was created, and ultimately destroyed, by the movies.

  • The Love Goddess

What an amazing read about the one of the most beautiful women in film ever. Her life as a dancing partner with her Father leaves Rita Casino no childhood and his inappropriate behavior with her leaves her no innocence. Married to a much older man who would gladly allow her love affairs if it would benefit her career and his wallet. The beauty and the beast marriage to boy wonder Orson Welles gave her a child but left her neglected by a genius. What should have been a fairy tale marriage to Aly Kahn turned into a unhappy union as well and left her with another daughter to raise alone. Her marriage to Dick Haymes ended her reign as the Love Goddess but her acting showed real talent. The movies Cover Girl and the two with Fred Astaire are as fresh today and will always be associated with ...

  • Easy reading

I'm just getting started with the book, but it seems well written and factual from what little I know about the lady.

  • Let no man write my epitaph

Very sad a person who could have had it all virtually but love and affection seemed to have eluded her
