Not worth the $ or the trouble
EDIT: The set-up worked (using the Sengeld App) for 6 days. Then all bulbs lost their connection to the hub. Nope. No good. Not going to re-set the whole thing up again. I have KMC outlets and Phillips smart bulbs that rarely lose their connections to Alexa. When I moved, I plugged everything in and kept the same network name and password and bam! Everything found the the network and reconnected with Alexa. Sengled is not worth the $ or the trouble. This is my original review: While the Sengled starter kit is billed to work with Alexa, it apparently no longer does. This appears to be a recent change. I looked at reviews posted within 10 days of my purchase and apparently there has been a recent firmware update that essentially 'broke' the ability to work with Alexa. The hub ... EDIT: The set-up worked (using the Sengeld App) for 6 days. Then all bulbs lost their connection to the hub. Nope. No good. Not going to re-set the whole thing up again. The hub and bulbs all set up easily using a wired network setup. During setup the instructions recommended wired over a wifi setup, but the instructions included indicated that a wifi set-up could be done. I was unsuccessful in connecting the hub to my network using a wireless. set-up. But that isn't a game changer, just a little annoying because I thought having it in the hallway would help the connection to my rear bedroom. Once I got the hub, setting up the bulbs was a piece of cake. After I got 2 bulbs in the kitchen, 1 in my bedroom overhead, 1 in a living room lamp, I was ready to link to Alexa. I followed the instructions to link my Sengled account to Alexa. Then I asked Alexa to discover new devices. Alexa can not find these bulbs. This is a game changer. I contacted tech support at Sengled and was told that Alexa did not need to 'Discover' these bulbs. I should go into groups, add a new group, then add devices to the group and my bulbs would show up in the list of available devices. They're not in that list. After 2 days of back and forth with tech support and searching for reviews that might include tips on this problem, I found recent reviews dated 5/20/20 and earlier that complained of lost connection after the update and Alexa no longer being able to see Sengled devices, or Sengled devices not working properly. Sengled tech support did answer me pretty quickly. At first. But they kept sending me instructions to link to my Alexa account even after I sent them screen shots showing I was already linked. In the end, I paid over $30 to have bulbs that only I can control using the Sengled app on my phone. Which means in the kitchen I am a god because I'm the only one that can turn the lights on and off, - if I have my phone on me, lol! I'll have to move the bulb out of the living room lamp because we end up using the switch anyway. Maybe in another month or so there will be another update fixing this. I'm hoping so . . .

Do your research and don't buy sengled element or use for ceiling fans.
I researched brands and do not remember reading it doesn't work on ceiling fans--and that is the important light. I also didn't pay enough attention to the bulb and got ones that will not fit with a lamp shade. Once I ordered the correct bulbs and downloaded sengled element app as it says in the directions it worked on the ceiling fan lights but when I added the other lights all four work as unit. I could get other two to turn off as a unit even though they were programmed separately. I found the sengled app and switched to that and it worked with ONE ceiling fan light and the other two. I decided to switch back to element and as I re-installed it found it has been discontinued and replaced by regular.
