Deeply painful to read, but deeply rewarding.

Best book ever. The cover page wasn't the one I was expecting, was a little disappointed because I wanted the purple cover with her in a rocking chair, specifically but that was only for sentimental reasons. The book is still great and I still remember it all. <3

  • Good read

This was a nice book. I had to buy it for class but it is a pretty interesting read. I ended up finishing the book before I was supposed to. There are some nc-17 parts in the book but it fits in with the story. The story clearly shows that although the civil war was fought blacks did not have the freedom they were promised. It also shows the inequality that women had to face along with the blacks and what ranking they had with men. There is also parts where they show that people in those times were not able to express their opinions because of family. And although blacks were poor, they were also judging each other by class. The phrasing is also very confusing if you're not used to it. Overall, it's a good book if you want to learn more about the hardship of feminism and blacks.

  • Color Purple Novel Review

I am enjoying the novel, but I was not expecting the novel to have the previous owners name written all over the book. It’s an awful sight in my library.

  • Not the right book

It was not the same book on the cover and it was not written like the original movie.
