    What a devotional should be

    My Utmost For His Highest is a cut above any other devotional that I have ever read. Perhaps that is due partly in that the author never even knew that a devotional was what may come of his writings. His faith was tried in the trenches of life and his teachings an overflow of that life. That place where real, raw, faith is needed. Not theoretically, not to sell a book, but that dark secret place where God meets us and His life becomes our own. Those things will preach; as they say, and what it speaks to the reader is "Christ and Him crucified" the essence of our being made disciples. "Feed My sheep" Jesus told Peter. And His words beg the question, feed them what? What the Master gives, feed them that. Oswald feeds us that, and it is rich. And now, as I read, I hear The Lord's voice ...

    Oswald Chambers very easy to use

    I like the fact that it is a single page devotional, which it takes a small amount of time to read in the morning. I had an older book of Oswald Chambers and gave it to a friend who was struggling. He is now using it daily, due to the easment of use. I purchased these 2 new ones to replace my old one and get new material. I will probably give one away to a friend as it is a blessing to others.

    Best Companion to the Bible That I Have Ever Found.

    I have had a copy of this book for more than a decade and I keep it next to my Bible. When my faith needs a shot of something (sometimes I don't know what I need)or I need some encouragement and sometimes comfort... when I am struggling with some decision, I can skip around instead of reading cover to cover and I am never disappointed. I have found and given two of these books to share with friends. I have a friend in mind for this book. Highly recommend -- If someone is reading this review because he or she is skeptical, I can think of dozens of reasons for the skepticism. Oswald Chambers is worth the read. It's not very expensive. I recommend being sure you have his original text. He has a way of dispelling "myths" about what Christians believe without even really calling them out.

    Oswald Chambers

    Oswald Chambers wrote very well, specifically, succinctly and with great depth with the insight of a man led of the Spirit of God. I've not read all of it nor any other of his works, but what I have read appears to sum very well pertinent elements of Scripture and impart a doctrinal soundness of our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.
