About this product

Product Information

The million copy international bestseller, critically acclaimed and translated into over 25 languages. This 30th anniversary edition includes a new introduction from the author as well as the original prefaces and foreword, and extracts from early reviews. As relevant and influential today as when it was first published, The Selfish Gene has become a classic exposition of evolutionary thought.Professor Dawkins articulates a gene's eye view of evolution - a view giving centre stage to these persistent units of information, and in which organisms can be seen as vehicles for their replication. This imaginative, powerful, and stylistically brilliant work not only brought the insights of Neo-Darwinism to a wide audience, but galvanized the biology community, generating much debate and stimulating whole new areas of research.

If you only read one Science book...make this the one.

This is a wonderful book. It is extremely well written and enjoyable. This is the book that got me going on my journey into Science and I still come back to it every couple of years. Mr. Dawkins has a terrific style and explains very complex things in a very easy to understand, and appreciate, way. Watch some of his interviews on youtube and you too will discover and have a look into one of the most brilliant minds of our time.

  • Top critical review

    Why?

The book is in awful condition, there are copper-ish stains on all sides of the cover and it is worn out. It looks almost like it was pulled out of a child's schoolbag and packed for shipping. This isn't worth five dollars, this isn't worth pocket change- I have no clue what to do with it, it can't be put on display on account of it looking like someone decided a book would go well with their pasta sauce, I can't take it anywhere because it might just fall apart faster than my father's three marriages, and it would make me look as unhygenic as my father after his three marriages. Anyway this product was awful but the book is pretty okay have I told you about the FEMA camps?

  • Evolution here I come

Wonderful read! This book, while written in the 1970s might seem like it will be outdated is anything but. The concepts are clear and well explained, and the information is still valid now. in later editions the author has added chapters and placed asterisks in the original chapters with further information or updates, but the originall 11 chapters remain untouched. This book was a pleasure to read and I learned a lot abotu evolution and underlying concepts, some of which i hadn't thought of in such detail until reading Dawkin's book. I highly recommend.

  • Great for those with a passion for science!

If you are interested in science, it is a great book. It have to push myself to read it as science is of limited interest to me. Book was used but like new!
