  • Writing Romance Fiction Like A Pro

This book gives a very good description of the process of writing fiction. It explains that you MUST meet the following reader's expectations; A sympathetic heroine A strong, irresistible hero Emotional tension An interesting, believable plot A happy ending The book provides guidelines for the writing process. This portion of the book gives detailed information about writing an outline, your character development and using both action and emotion to drive the plot. The book explains the proofreading and editing process. It also provides information about getting the book published. I found Chapter 11, "Taking It All Off: Writing Love Scenes", the most helpful. The author gives good advice on how to write love scenes that fit your book's style. This book is an excellent guide for ...

Also covered is making your outline & sticking to it, what editors do & don't want to see along with ideas on how to get an editor or publishing house to even take a look at your book. I liked this book because of it's practical common sense advise. The book "flowed" from the initial concept of writing a book to how to get your thoughts to convert to a viable story. Also covered is the little details that could make or break your book such as careful research if a historical romance, is the language your characters using ...

  • For Dummies isn't just for dummies

I love how this book gives you all the information you need in a less formal fashion, so it doesn't bore you. I thought I new just about all I needed to know about writing a romance novel. It turns out that I knew next to nothing. Although this particular for dummies book wasn't as humorous as others I've read, it did help me learn what I needed to know, very quickly. The book itself maybe a few years old, but the lessons are still very relevant.
