    Handy size spectacular color

Bought this to identify the multitude of butterflies that have recently come to our garden. Living in California, and having drought problems, we took out the huge 5,000 sq foot lawn and put in native Calif. plants that require a lot less water. Within one month of the transformation the butterflies were flocking in and we needed a guide to identify the butterflies. This book fit the bill, its compact, has a nice sturdy cover and the book is organized and extremely colorful. Highly recommend this purchase.

  • A good and quick reference guide...great for kids too!

This is a very informative, quick and easy to use reference guide that has good color pictures and wonderful references to many North American butterflies. Not every one is listed in here but I found many to most are. It has been my field guide since I was a child using it when I was collecting butterflies. Without it, I would be very lost as to what kinds of butterflies are in my area. I also love it's compact size instead of being a big, bulky, hard to carry around study guide. I haven't found it's equal or better yet. I use mine almost every year and I think every household should own a copy. A great family resource tool.

  • A Big Bit of Better Butterflies

Comprehensive, concise, and readable (insofar as any guide of tis type is readable--not your everyday fascinating piece that pulls you in). This book is among the better guides to butterflies, if not the best (according to a lepidopterist friend), and a tremendous value.
