A sweet story.
A friend loaned me this book and told me I'd cry. I don't cry easily, but it did have some tug-at-your-heartstrings moments. Having said that, I'm not a typical Kingsbury fan. It's not very believable that someone who hasn't uttered a word for 15 years would be able to sing with an impeccable tenor voice. Also, the publishers/editors must have been in a rush to get the book out and left out some commas here and there. Other than that, it's a story one wants to believe could happen. On a side note, others should keep in mind that reviews are where you tell if you liked the book, not if you liked the book seller. I like Kingsbury as an author. News came out about immunizations as a possible cause for autism and everyone seemed to jump on the bandwagon. However, recently a report nullified this assumption. Therefore, Karen Kingsbury book seemed like it was poorly researched because the whole premises of the book was based on the character being perfectly normal until his third birthday, but after having 9 shots he was never the same. Autism is so broad and varies so much from person to person. I just felt that the main character was somewhat difficult to believe.I like Kingsbury as an author. By far my favorite Karen Kingsbury book ever.
This is by far my favorite Karen Kingsbury book ever. She is an amazing author that shares her love of God in every book. This one touched a special place in my heart. I am very close to a family that has an autistic son and so this was a eye opening example of how he might feel at times. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
