  • Paths to Recovery: Al-Anons Steps Traditions & Concepts

This is an essential text for those seeking to deepen their understanding of the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts as practiced in the Al-Anon Family Groups. In many ways, this book serves much the same purpose as the "Big Book" in AA. It is an invaluable guide to one who is seeking to actively and intentionally work the Steps, providing a detailed examination of each, including reflections of experience, strength, and hope from fellow members and suggestions for applying each step one's life. It gives a similar treatment to the Traditions and Concepts, thus providing the reader the tools needed to achieve greater relevance and a deeper understanding of them. Like all conference-approved Al-Anon literature, this book includes an exhaustive index, which the reader can ...

  • Paths to Recovery

I got my own copy of this book a few months ago and love it. It's amazing and astounding and absolutely founded on truths that can't help but make a difference in every area of a person's life. Now, I'm buying copies to share with people I love. Honestly... I think this book should be a required reading in high school. There's not a one of us anywhere who hasn't been affected by alcohol or drugs, even if at a distance through just knowing someone else who is affected. I recommend it most highly.

  • The consummate recovery book for those in Alanon

This book is chock full of recovery for those of us affected directly - or, indirectly - by Alcoholism. Actually, I think it works for anyone who is or was affected by any kind of illness...SA, OA, NA, AA, you name it. And to go one step further, I think it could work for anyone who needs help learning to draw boundaries and learn to take care of themselves, and stop trying to control the people, places and things around them. One of the phrases I've heard in this group sums it up: "Stay within the confines of your hula-hoop". Sums up the fact that, once standing inside a hula hoop, the only thing we have control over is what's standing inside that circle...the rest is out of our hands.

  • Paths to Recovery is a great book that will help people dealing with loved ones who are sick with drugs and alcohol.

I really like that it was not written on. I needed this book to reflect on my learning.
