Elucidating, personal and powerful book on the belief of Christianity
The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis is a masterpiece for explaining and elucidating one of the most debatable ideas, "sins" and "repentance", in Christianity. It is a good guidebook for doubtful non-Christians into the core of the Christian belief and also a reminder of the practicing believers to stick to the loving path of Jesus. The book is the narration of a ghost's visit of heaven. Throughout the trip, he witnesses other fellow ghosts suffering from their issues, such as "desire for fame", "pride", "self-pity", "lust", and so on, and refusing to admit and correct their issues. In the chapter about self pity, an angel, personification of "joy", tells a self-pitied ghost to stop using self-pity to ask for help from others and "blackmail happiness". The Book describes the opportunity of a man who has gone to hell and a trip to Heaven so he might change his mind and want to stay in Heaven. there are others on this day trip with the same opportunity but they all decline for various earthly reasons. I decided to buy it because I was intrigued by the theme.
