Jodi Picoult has become one of my favorite authors, and she definitely did not let me down here. Plain Truth was intriguing from the very first page, and kept me guessing until the end. Her characters are so true-to-life; I felt like I really knew them by the end. In addition, the work that must have gone into preparing such a story about Amish life is unbelievable. I learned so much about the Amish culture and gained a respect for the society as a whole. Take the time to read this amazing story. I have just recently discovered Jodi Picoult books and have loved each one I have read. This one was particularly facinating to me since I have lived all my life in a neighboring county to Lancaster Pennsylvania, without ever fully understanding much about the Amish and how they live. I could really relate to the descriptions of tourists trying to catch a glimpse of or take pictures of the Amish as they travel in their buggies alongside highways with fast moving vehicles. This book was inciteful, suspensefull and left me wanting more. All of Jodi Picoult books leave the reader with a lot of fruit for discussion. I just became a fan of Jodi Picoult and since I am an avid reader, I found this book to be on my "keepers" list. Ms. Picoult takes an ethical situation and brings all angles to it. I really liked the character development and the vivid description of the geographical backround. I am familiar with the Amish culture and found that there was a respectful representation of their religious beliefs in this book. This was my first Picoult book, and if you haven't read her books, this is one you won't be disappointed in reading.I just became a fan of Jodi Picoult and since I am an avid reader, I found this book to be on my "keepers" list. Plain Truth was very easy to read and could not put down. Jodi Picoult is an excellent author and I plan on reading more of her work.
