    Financial Responsibility

This is a very good book for anyone wanting to develop greater financial responsibility. It examines beliefs and behaviors with money, and how to take practical steps to be more conscientious. The CD's from Sounds True based on this book are excellent.

  • Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez, Vicki Robin

I love this book. It changed my life by inspiring me to look at my money in a more creative way. By doing the exercises in the book, 13 years ago, I was able to rid my family of all debt. We paid off our house, cars, credit card balances within 3 years, and did this just when my spouse retired unexpectedly leaving us $40,000 less per year in income. We never felt deprived during our less than 3 years paying off our debt. (Oh, it totaled a bit more than $37,000.) Miraculously we have never had debt since. If we use credit, we pay at the end of every month. What inspired me the most were the stories scattered throughout the book of individuals. If all I got was the information in the italicized individual stories, it would be enough. However, each page is packed with helpful ideas. I ...

  • One of my favorite money books

This is a well written book. Moral of the story is to figure out how much money you've made in your life. Next step, where did it all go? It teaches you how to track your income and expenses and to graph it every month so you can see where your money is going. It describes hours at work as "life points". This book puts money, life, and work into a new perspective. To be honest, it helped me cut back my hours at work which I'm thankful I did now. It teaches the reader how to be frugal and to eventually become financially independent.

  • Good book, with some flaws

This book did a great job of explaining how you can tell if your job is worth it, and how you can slowly, methodically, become rich enough to make work optional. An important read for anyone in a modern, capitalist society. My main objection is that the book only advocates investing in US government bonds. They play up the safety of such bonds beyond a reasonable level, and played up the danger of all other investments. Rather than teaching the reader to become comfortable with risk in exchange for the return you get, the book instead advises that the reader go with the safest possible investment, and pretend that it is risk-free. This is not the safest course in these volatile times that we live in.

  • Great book!

Excellent program to become financially self-sufficient. Emphasizes "enough" vs. over-consumption. We've found it very valuable.
