Fast Paced Naval Themed Science Fiction
This is a fast paced, action packed science fiction-adventure adventure film. It has humor, a touch of melodrama and a lot of good old fashioned "shoot em ups" between the Humans and Invading Extraterrestrials. Think, "Independence Day" with naval battleships.

Not a boring moment
Using a fair amount of computer generated special effects this movie seemed plausible with outer space aliens that were credible as were their spaceships and war machines. The sub-plot of romance between the two main characters was also plausible and not overdone. There wasn't a dull moment!

Not Perfect But Better Than I Expected
When I watched it in 2012, it was disappointing. But now owning it and watching again it is a lot better than I remembered. Skipping the set up to the encounter (first 20 minutes or so) the action starts. The special effects was well done. Rihanna was excellent and hope to see her do more movies. The only shortcomming is that the CGI on the aliens were pretty cut rate. Also the movie made the aliens pretty stupid. The aliens made some bad decisions that costsd them their stay on Earth that is not really believeable. I wish they showed how tough the battleship armor is against alien weapons--that would be a treat. Other than that the action sequences were well done that kept me watching. Being a Navy vet made this movie to me pretty cool. The movie is not perfect but better than ... When I watched it in 2012, it was disappointing. If you liked transformers...
For openers, I really liked Tranformers, and this is about on the same level of excitement-- Add good acting and a great twisting plot to knockout special effects, a reasonably good sideshow from the cast, a reasonable amount of screen time for the luscious Brooklyn, and a fun ending, you get a movie well worth watching. The music score by Steve Jablonski was not up to his wonderful level in Transformers, but Brooklyn Decker vs. Megan Fox???---either one is fine.
