  • Bower Super Wide Fisheye Lens for my NIKON D90

I bought this Bower Digital Super Wide 0.42x AF lens about a week ago. I used this with my NIKON D90. What interests me most in getting this lens is the fisheye effect that I wanted for my pictures, not knowing that as an adapter, it is a Super Wide lens. It works best if attached to an 18-55mm lens (this is what I have) or any zoom lens. Fisheye effect is achieved at 18-22mm and at 24mm the Super Wide Effect is achieved with a little distortion on the side of the picture. The fisheye effect is not visible if Bower Super Wide is used in a dedicated prime lens. For example a 35mm f/1.4 prime lens is attached with this Bower Super Wide and only a Wide Effect is achieved with a little distortion on the side. I could have given this an excellent rating because it gives me the fisheye effect ...

  • The VL46B lens with Macro, Fisheye and Wide Angle

The Bower VL46B lens compliments and enhances the already great features of my Sony Nex 5 A/B. It perfectly matched with my existing 18-55mm zoom lens creating stunning wide angle pictures. I was able to creatively took photos with great effects using the lens fisheye feature. I have not tried the Macro yet but I'm sure it would be equally great as the fisheye effect. I would highly recommend this product.

  • Great for the amateur photographer and good value for money

I really felt i took a chance on this- knowing that a 'proper' fish eye costs £200+. I am glad that I risked it though. I have only experimented a little bit but the fish eye works well with my 18-55mm lens. I also have a 55-300mm but because of the magnification the fish eye cannot be used on this lens. The Macro lens is also impressive, it takes some nice shots and as it is attached to the existing lens the auto focus still works which is handy. All in all I am happy with my purchase. The quality once enlarged is yet to be seen but for an amateur photographer who just wants something to experiment with I would highly recommend this. Due to the length the kit adds to the existing lens an external flash is an ideal companion.

  • "You get what you pay for"

My ratings may not fully reflect the truth as I am still trying to get the best out of the lense. I bought it for my Canon 550D.I have had mixed results with the picture quality. I have found the autofocus doesn't work very well with it and is better used with manual focus, but I still find resolution to be a little blurry, particularly as distance increases. I guess it's the old story; "You get what you pay for". A quality lense would cost hundreds in comparison. I thought I'd give it a try. It may produce different results on other cameras.

  • I will try to resell this item

Its good that this product is not expensive, its the only pro. You're gonna see the lens on your photo as a black circle, so you need to zoom in quite a lot, which decreases the quality of the image for a fisheye/wide angle lens, especially the focus. Besides the darker image in each corner of the image, there will be also lots of chromatic aberration and deformations especially in the extremities of the photo. A real fisheye lens that you screw directly on the camera body instead f attaching to another lens is very expensive, but at leat it will give photos that you can use. Renting a pro fisheye lens is a good alternative.
