Today's entertainment choices typically offer simplistic core stories wrapped in immense, far-future, intergalactic CGI animated sequences. Asking viewers what they remember about the core storyline often results in a recitation of some "space battle" scene rather than the message the movie tried to convey. Walking Thunder instead offers a young man's coming-of-age story surrounded by a 19th century American mountain landscape and historical perspective. All incidents of (mild) violence are realistic and believable, yet enables viewers to remain focused on the movies' main theme. Sadly, the overabundance of the Star Wars/Marvel Superhero epic movies cause Walking thunder to be pushed down to a lower age level than the 14-year old character - my recommended viewing age would be 7 - 10 ...

  • If you love John Denver you will want to add this to your collection .

I bought this movie because I am a diehard John Denver fan . I have to face the hard truth tho, John just is not very convincing in this movie, BUT... The scenery , authenticity , and the other actors convincing portrayal overshadow John's acting faults . Don't get me wrong , John isn't a flop in this , he just seems to struggle with his character . All in all , I greatly enjoyed the movie , especially the elder Indian and the bear he was connected with .
