Excellent reference book for anyone in the applied clinical sciences...and that it is. There is so much information packed in this tiny reference book that as a middle-career professional is immeasurably helpful. I appreciate everything, including the mental status exam descriptors and the psych clinical history as a good reference point for those starting out and as a booster for those who have been practicing awhile. Needless to say, I appreciate and recommend this resource to all of my students and colleagues.

I'm a PA student. When I was going into my Behavioral medicine rotation, I wanted a book that could work as a quick reference for psychiatric issues. Kaplan's has been a great reference guide for that purpose. It is based on the DSM-IV criteria and follows the same outline. It is a good book for those who don't plan investing a lot of money on a clinical psychiatry book but would like to have a definition, etiology, psychodynamics, diagnosis, differential, prognosis, and treatment of such conditions. Well worth the money. P.S. Behavioral Medicine was actually fun ;)
Meets all expectations.
