Have had a TomTom in the past and need a new gps for a trip because I must leave the TomTom at home for daughter. I decided to try Garmin this time. This product has some better features than my old one. It has traffic updates, sticks to the windshield better, is easier to read in bright sunlight, and is lightweight. The things I don't like are that divided roads don't show, the car on the screen doesn't show which way you are pointing until you are moving, and it's a little harder to figure out programming. But I have only had this for a couple of weeks and may just need to get used to it. Most people I talked with seemed to like theirs.

I used the Garmin , for 3 days , It worked well and follow all directions, But In the Information it is supossed to be with traffic update and its not include, you need the extra gadget. Also after 3 days it worked, but after that it came off and never came back in operation, it blacked out completely. It is supposed to be best quality , but NO. Now Its dificult for me to send it back to warranty, bad value.

This GPS does a pretty good job of mapping out the fastest routes and, in using it where I'm familiar with the area, it takes the routes I would typically take. The voice command feature is very useful, but it seems to have some missing businesses who have been there for awhile (i.e. Yogurt Mountain keeps coming up as Chinese restaurants LOL!). It's also quick to recalculate when I take a turn it doesn't have on the mapped route. Overall it's worth the price I paid. Definitely would recommend it!

My prior Garmin 2595LM failed after only 3 yrs of light use. It was never dropped and was treated well. I was satisfied with my 2595 in all aspects except durability. I especially value the voice activation features and would not consider a unit without it. I reluctantly purchased this Garmin 2589LMT due to the short life of my 2595. If this Garmin fails early I will never buy Garmin again. There is no new feature that would cause me to purchase this newer 2589 over my original 2595.

This is a decent instrument for the money. I bought a factory reconditioned 2720 model and it lasted about eight years. So far, it's only had one episode of not having a clue where it was supposed to go. It really sent us on a wild goose chase. It's a good idea to have a real map as a back up. As far as the voice recognition goes, it doesn't do so well. I told it a town that I wanted to go to in Georgia, and it kept asking if I was looking for a certain Bank in Georgia. I have used the voice recognition successfully as well. So it's not totally useless. It does have some neat features. And, the range of the maps is good. I bought one Garmin life time map model, only to find out when I got to Canada, it didn't know where Canada was. Neither did it have a clue where Alaska was. I was told by a Garmin representative that it only was good for the lower 48. She agreed with me that I was essentially screwed at that point. Buyer be ware. Hurray for Rand McNally.Read full review

Purchased for my wife to used, everything about this product was A+, it’s easy to used and voice commands feature was a plus. Just updated the software and now have 2017 and 2018 maps for free.
