Nice thick leather. Just what I was look for. To break in, just wrap the gun in a plastic bag, insert fully and let it sit. Then pull out, pull off the bag and check the fit per 12 to 24 hours. Also, check the fit with the holster belted to your hip, it will tighten the fit. I will be purchasing another for a different gun,
