basket not heavy; easy to pick up shredder top/lid. enough room (but could be a bit better/bigger space for faster shredding). but it's adequate. basket good size. can get a decent amt of shredding done before having to empty. I generally turn mine off in between jobs so i don't let it run ongoing so I'm not sure how well it would run if it was left on all the time. Does the job!

The cross cut provides great security and it shreds small enough to feel safe in shredding sensitive documents, The one thing that I think could be improved on by the company is the run time- the directions say that it can be run for 3 minutes, which isn't very long, before it must be shut off for 30 minutes....even if you run it for a little longer, it begins to smell funny, a sure sign that you are beginning to overheat the motor. This cross cut shredder is perfect for my use (small home office). Altho it says it will take seven pages at once I have not tried that feature. The most I have tried is five pieces of paper and it worked great.
