The only detail on the cable is that one has to remove that one pin on the IDE cable to make it work in a standard IDE socket plug. This can be difficult to do if one does not have a proper tool to remove the pin.

Good but have to remove pin 20 on the male end
The cable worked as expected but one has to remove pin 20 on the male end of the cable in order to mate it with typical IDE female connectors where pin 20 is blocked.

Great for permanent installs
This unit performed flawlessly at first, but after about 5 or 6 hard drive swaps, the connectors became unsound and split apart rendering it useless. If you plan on plugging something in, and leaving it connected until the hard drive dies, like a DVR or network storage this is perfect, but a little pricey for what it is.

Title has a necessary relevant information.
This made it possible to hook up both the hard drive and DVD drive from the same IDE cable in an older PC. There is only one IDE port so this solved an otherwise unsolvable problem. The existing ribbon cable has the board connector and 2 drive connectors, but they are positioned so that it was otherwise impossible to hook up both drives. This extension made it possible to hook up the other drive at the same time.
