It's official! The ongoing battles between the Tan and Green armies has escalated into World War! The aggressive Tans have built an army with a stronger armory and more troops and continue their sweep across enemies and cities, seeking to expand their ever-increasing territorial domination. In the campaign, playing as the Green Army, you must stop the invasion and encroachment of this powerful enemy.<br><br>In Army Men: World War, gameplay can be set at the easy, medium or hard skill level. Controls are customizable and both campaign and single scenario play is available. A Boot Camp tutorial is offered as a means of learning how the game is played. Action is accomplished via the control of squads by directing their actions (firing, defending, movement) with up to a dozen available during many missions.<br><br>Campaign victory conditions require a sequential completion of a series of interconnected missions while losing as few troops as possible. Missions can be lost in two ways. First, by allowing all Green soldiers or any map-specific units to be eliminated, and second, failure to achieve all mission objectives. Individual scenarios (battles) are single-player games fought with or against computer-controlled forces.<br><br>Multiplayer game types include Deathmatch, Black Flag (capture the flag and go on a killing spree), King of the Hill (find and hold the hill), Node Control (seek out and capture the nodes), Capture the Flag (enter opponent's base, capture a specific designated flag and bring it back to headquarters). Other multiplayer games are Capture All Flags (multiple flags must be taken), Meltdown Fusion (combination of Capture the Flag and Node Control), and The Last Man Standing (variation of a deathmatch).<br><br>Other features of Army Men: World War include options such as map selection for specific battles, number of computer-controlled opponents (up to three), how much plastic each player receives to buy units at the beginning of a game, rules of engagement, and point goals needed to win each game. Squad assignments and troop placements prior to battles as well as fog of war, replacement of casualties, random power-ups, replenishment of power-ups, and item pop-up labels are additional options.Product Identifiers

Best Sequel to the Original
This game feels the most like the original game out of all the sequels. The gameplay/graphics are very similar to all previous installments, but there is an emphasis on controlling troops as there is no "Sarge." It has a WWII feel to it and the story takes place entirely in the plastic universe. This gives it a darker appeal like the original game. There are tons of vehicles (including enemy ones that can be hijacked), but most GI's are only armed with rifles. Additionally, there are no greys and only one blue character. Commands are somewhat confusing, but can be learned via boot-camp. Controls are fully customizeable. The multiplayer is very similar to the later installments in the series.
