Works fine as a 33cm amateur HT.
You’ll need to round up a battery, charger, antenna, programming cable, programming software, etc, but afterwards you’ll have a nice 33cm amateur HT. There are a few 902 MHz repeaters here that I’ve monitored with a scanner, but wasn’t able to get on until getting one of these and everything for it. It’s only a 2W transceiver, but that’s plenty of power to just get on local repeaters. Received good audio reports. 33cm has good propagation characteristics. I picked up a speaker/mic and a dust cover also for it. But the only imperfection I have encountered after using it approximately five weeks is that the volume control is just the tiniest bit stiff, which is actually not entirely bad, that keeps the volume from getting bumped and accidentally turned up or down.
