A Voyage into the unknown
Television doesn't get any better than Irwin Allen's world of Sci-Fi. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea was the first of Irwin Allen's classic TV series. During the 1960's Allen dominated the airwaves with the likes of Lost In Space, The Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants. Each production was a labor of his love. I found myself glued each week to the adventures of the Seaview, The Robinson Family with Dr. Smith and the Robot, Dr. Tony Neuman and Dr. Doug Phillips, as well as the "Little People" stranded in a land of behemoths. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea was always able to maintain a certain level of seriousness, even when it soon became the tongue and cheek "Monster of the week" series. At least the actors remained serious. These was no campy goings on here. My favorite episodes were the ones which appeared in the first two seasons of the show. These were the episodes which dealt with cold war espionage and science gone awry. They don't make shows such as this anymore, unfortunately. This was a show families could sit down and enjoy together. Well, at least in my family, what a father and his young son could enjoy together. Yes, many wonderful memories that I can now share with my son and my grand-son. Irwin Allen was a man who could make dreams come to life!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
