In The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Kyon wakes up on December 18th, and he finds everything a bit...off. Like the strange fact that Haruhi is absent. Except she's not just missing school, she's missing entirely, and no one seems to remember her! Kyon is quickly finding this Haruhi-less world to be one he doesn't want to be in. Without the help of his SOS Brigade friends, Kyon has to figure out what's going on before it's too late.

Seriously, I can't go on enough about this movie. The character development, the story, the pacing... YUKI... It blows the show out of the water in every way. Plus 7 years later, it still has some of the most amazing and gorgeous animation I've ever seen (courtesy of Kyoto Animation). Seriously, this is the second longest animated film in history (off from first place by about a minute) and the animation never falters, even during slower scenes. I'd recommend watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya just to understand what's going on here. I won't give spoilers, but... It almost made me cry for Yuki at the end. I'm so glad Funimation relicensed this movie and treats it well, the Bandai version is ridiculously expensive now that it's out of print. My favorite anime movie, and one of my favorite movies in general.
