Great Find for a very reasonable price
Game came in the exact condition as described and shown an days earlier than expected. This game is part of a long running, now defunct series of Naruto Fighting games that was released in both Japan and America. While this and Gekitou Ninja Taisen 3 were both only released in Japan, America was given the "Clash of Ninja Revolution" series to create a more updated version of these games. Although, they lacked characters from the first Arc of the Naruto series such as Iruka, Mizuki, Zabuza and Haku for example. These games also got rid of the Third Hokage and Sound 5, in favor of more recent characters like Asuma, Kurenai and even some original story characters such as Kagura and Bando. The game is a 3d fighter which uses side stepping similar to the Tekken series, but instead of quick ... Game came in the exact condition as described and shown an days earlier than expected. The game is a 3d fighter which uses side stepping similar to the Tekken series, but instead of quick tapping up or down, L or R makes each character Side-Step. Each character uses both taijutsu (Physical attacks) and Ninjitsu (Sprcial moves) The B button, In combination with a direction acts as a universal attack button, while the A button uses projectiles for most characters, except Rocklee, Might Guy, Kisame and Zabuza to name a few. The game can be played 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 3 on 2 and 2 on 1. Each character has a two special jutsu's with some including more such as Sasuke, Itachi and Naruto to name a few. Team Specials make an appearance in this game. By pairing teams that are either canon to the story or have good chemistry, some special team jutsu's can be seen. This is only possible when all three characters in a three-man cell have their chakra gauges full. By pressing forward and X, a team special commences. Some examples are Naruto+Sasuke+Sakura or Shikamaru+Ino+Choji. Others involve some creative detective work such as Sasuke+Itachi+Kakashi. Even the sound 5 can pair up and do attacks with the young genin, such as Garaa+Lee+Kimimaru. The games story itself seems to be an original story. Using the Sound 5 only in the curse mark forms and includes the final battle between Sasuke and Naruto to end the series (albeit being a short rival mission battle, no cutscene). The stages are very well done, and the music, like the rest of the series, is very catchy. Gameplay is great, not clunky. The addition of Combo cancelling or "Y-Canceling" started in this game, where pressing throw after attacks that launch an opponent into the air cancel a combo for %25 of the chakra guage, and allows a combo to continue on or even start a new juggle. I have created a guide for this on youtube that can be found by typing "Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution: Combo Cancelling" should anyone like to see what it looks like. Although this seems extremely advantageous, it can only be done so many times before the game's juggle physics slowly start to make the opponent fall faster and faster, eventually ending a combo. Mission mode is primarily how you unlock characters, with most being unlocked after doing intervals of five missions. Having a Gekitou Ninja Taisen 3 save on the same memory card can alleviate some of the trouble of unlocking, but does not hinder the game if it is not present. No shop this time around, everything is unlocked through mission mode. I suggest pulling up a GameFAQ's translation guide for this game and using that, as if you arent native to japanese, missions can be hard to understand. However, after a while, certain mission descriptions and even placement of game modes on the main menu will become easier to understand. While this game does not have a huge following, there was a bit of a competitive community for it a while ago, and it seems to be resurfacing. Apex 2016 was the last that I saw of this game in a larger competitive setting. This game is fun for both casual and competitive fighting game fans, as well as Naruto fans who just want a good game to rep on the gamecube. If you like either the series or the fighting game genre, I ask that you to give this game a try, you wont regret it.
