I had to remove everything from the original fan and replace them with the parts included in the box. I replaced the screws to hold the fan to the ceiling with 1/4 inch lag bolts. The original screws would have worked but the lag bolts were my preference. It was very easy to install and simple to use. My original Hunter fans are around 30 years old so I should never have to replace the new ones. Did I mention the 2 year warranty?
