This camera ended using lithium batteries, which is fine with me. I wanted it to store a lot of pictures instead of on my phone. I think it was a great deal.

The camera would come on and take pictures but the toggle button would only work if you went left. So that made it impossible to use the menu and many other functions. I kept it because I needed the case it came with but the camera was junk.

The best rating I give any consumer digital camera is a 4. Digital just do not compare to film (sort of comparing oranges to apples). This is a great camera for someone who wants a camera with the feel of a 35mm and very good quality imaging. If I were just a take the camera out for vacations and a few other shots I'd probably give this on ea 5. The camera is full of easily used features such as a personal programed favorite setting, several selections for white balance, super macro which allows excellent macro work as close as 2 cm lens to subject distance, optical view finder with a built in diopter adjustment, panorama, 2 frame stitching, aperture or shutter priority, spot or multi area metering, full automatic or manual and much more. I specifically bought this camera for the super macro function and to have a small digital with a bit of a zoom lens that I could carry where I don't like to take my film cameras. The controls are well laid-out easy to find and easy to use. The camera will operate from rechargeable battery packs or 4 AA batteries (another reason for my choice of this camera). I do not like cameras with custom made to fit rechargeable packs that may not be available a fews years from now when they need replaced. The camera uses xD smart media cards and not the more popular SD card so external storage may be a bit harder to find at economical prices. For a nearly full featured camera that is really affordable this is the camera you may want if just a plain point-and-shoot just does not have the features you may want to use.Read full review
Olympus CAMEDIA C 4000 is a great camera for the price. I have blown them up to 36"x24" and still has great resolution. I had the exact camera before for about 6 years but dropped it on the dock while the lens was out and broke the lens. The draw backs are the delay between the time you push the button and the actual time the picture is taken. I usually press the button, count to 3 and then it takes the pic. Hard to catch action photos with such a delay. Also there were many reviews written about people turning on the camera before taking off the lens cap and stripping the lens gears. I can see where that can happen. Luckly it has never happened to me (yet). If this one breaks, I'll buy another one just like, but this time will use the old flash card, batteries and what ever I can salvage off the old one before throwing it away ;-)Read full review
I have owned an earlier model of this camera since 1996. It FINALLY was no longer fully functional. It served our purpose well. The advance of the megapixels were not really a concern of mine... after all, the common office printer can only print out so many pixels and even the latest (reasonable) TV only relates to so many pixels! Everyone always remarked as to how great my pictures were compared to theirs! Not having the money to go SLR at this time, I looked to replace my camera. So this one is a couple years or so newer than the one I had... the photo of the camera was not "enhanced" and it showed very little wear. Works great and I am back in business. Yes, I would like to own a new SLR or an expensive point and shoot, but for less than $35.00 there was no better bargain! I love it and it works perfectly. Menu seemed easier to navigate on my old one, but that may be because I owned it for so many years. Oh another question someone might ask...do you take lots of pictures and the answer is "yes." Far more than probably most normal lay people and definitely far more than the average 70 year old. I now have a new phone that takes wonderful pictures as well, but its a pain to have to download them to my computer to put into my photo library on three different hard drives! Taking pics and removing the memory card, and reading them into the computer is painless and quick. Now you have read more than you planned on reading!!!!Read full review
I recently lost a good friend due to age and overuse,a 10 year old olympus c-4000 digital camera. I was so fond of this little powerhouse that even though I purchased a new 14 mp olympus, that I also replaced the old 4000 with a replacement used one I paid 45.00 for. This replacement also works perfectly with excellent picture quality. I would reccomend this camers to anyone for a back up. The only drawback is the cost of the media card in relation to it's capacity. This can be overcome with a purchase of an additional card and dounloading to a computer or photo sight after every use.
I wias looking for a cheap camera to take on a Children's Hospital camp for kids with cancer. It rains a lot and I wanted something I would not mind getting wet even if it ruins it. I does some things that my Fuji s3000hd doesn't do, such as slow sinced flash. It only has a max 4 sec shutter setting, but I can live with that. I don't like the lens cap preventing the lens from opening so i took a needle file and filed the inside of the pring catches so the lens could push it off without any trouble. I really did get my $12 worth of camera and then some.
I have used this camera personally and found it very easy to use. Excellent photo quality. Excellent quality by Olympus.

I replaced an exact C-4000 that I have used for years. It is only 4 pixels, but delivers real quality photos. I KNOW how to use it and have All the accessories for it. I have a higher dollar Kodak, but when I need QUICK photos, I use my trusty Olympus.

I like Olympus cameras and i already have a camera like this one that i bought on Ebay. I bought it for my wife as it is an easy to operate camera and gives you super nice photos, with out being a pro photographer. This particular camera was like new and had been taken care of. The C4000 Zoom camera is even greater with extra lens, telephoto, wide angle, which we have. The camera is very durable and has a nice looking design. I do not think there is anything that i do not like about the Olympus C-4000 Zoom camera.
