Excellent Quality And Excellent Show!
I have fond memories watching The Love Boat at my grandparent's house every Saturday night after a fun and exhausting day. The show is very uplifting and I think many of today's shows could be more that way. The cast compliment each other nicely and every guest is always so likable, even if they make huge mistakes. Who doesn't find the conversations in the moonlight with the sea glittering in the background attractive? It's romantic, but on a level that both sexes can agree on because it never gets too fluffy, just the right balance of character development. I'm male and I cry watching some episodes because the stories are rather touching, especially when they focus on the death of a loved one or runaway fathers. So it's a huge misconception that the show avoided dark issues. Definitely ... My fondest childhood memories are of this show along with fantasy island. Golden age of tv from 1977-84, love boat and fantasy island on ABC 8-9pm sat. Love boat dealt with the romantic complications of couples. For me, it was the stars I wanted to see. In my case, Karen Valentine was the main reason. She was on several episodes. Who doesn't love a cruise!
Me, my husband & 8 yr old just started cruising a few years ago and LOVE it! Me & my husband used to love watching the love boat when we were kids. So it was only natural to buy the season to show our 8 yr old. Although it's nothing like real cruising, it's a barrel of laughs. All 3 of us sit back & watch the episodes after dinner. If you want to introduce good old fashion tv to your children this is a must have. I love this show. It is very sad to see that they stopped making the other seasons because of poor sales. I was told recently for them to make more seasons, the sales for seasons 1 and 2 need to increase. So I recommend this show. I recommend this to anyone. This is the first time I have seen it in 25 years and I think it is even better now. I appreciate more now because there is so much junk on TV lately. Even children like this show.
