    Nook Color

Reasons why I love my Nook Color: 1) it has a large, easy to read color screen that can be adjusted for brightness 2) it can hold about 2000 books 3) it has a very handy search feature 4) it has a nice large screen but is still small enough to carry in my purse 5) it has a long battery life 6) the opening screen shows date and time 7) it shows the time, battery level, wifi, and sound at lower right of every reading page I read a lot and I currently have over 500 books on this Nook. It is so great for travel, you can carry your entire library for the size of one paperback. I highly recommend this Nook for any avid reader; you will love it!!

    Does what it does

Over all, the Nook does what a Nook should, display books. I received this product and had to forcibly hard reset it as it had issues turning on and had the original accounts still registered. Once I did that, it started turning on a little easier. The only issue right now is it has a finiky battery. After it dies, I will plug it in to charge until the light turns green. Turn on the screen, see it has 100% battery, unplug it, and suddenly it either drops to below 25% or will power off from NO POWER. But after messing with it further, I can generally get it back onto the main screen. If I had known about the issues with the battery, I probably wouldn't have bought it, as I had gotten it to help distract my toddler. Nothing worse than having a happy toddler melt down because a 'fully ...

  • B&N is the only thing holding this device back.

I like the unit as a whole but I don't like what Barnes and Noble did to it. B&N have engineered the software so you can only get apps from B&N and the prices are often, exorbitant. Being charged at all for an app that is FREE from the Google Play store is kind of an outrage. As an eBook reader, It's pretty good, Battery life is very good, The display is crisp and clear and vibrant. It does tend to have issues with memory like all android devices. It's a good idea to download one of their few task killers but you'll be paying for it whereas you could get a better task killer on your smartphone from google play for free. Just saying. The device can no longer accept sideloaded apps either since last OS update. The device is great, Barnes and Noble are greedy jerks and don't respond to ...

  • only if you Surf and listen to music ; with Cynogenmod then you'll love it

Good design, good display good screen-touch response -I'd say equal to an IPAD2. Bad - locked down B&N system it'll play music, videos, show pictures and surf all great but that's essentially all. Everything about it is really designed as a conveyer belt to buying content books/apps from B&N. Also power/synch cable limiting rather than some normal standard. No camera (not an issue for me; no bluetooth - really wish that was present. Buy a cheap Cynogenmod 7 microSD card (or make) - boot to Android and have a full fledged good Android tablet. So I changed my perspective from poor tablet with good browsing to fantastic tablet. Further I like Android better than the Apple straight jacket like ios.

  • Inexpensive device for media consumption

The Nook tablet is a good sized tablet for reading and consuming eBook and other multimedia content. However, its OS is slower than the iPad, and its smaller screen size does carry some liability for reading email and text input. Its obviously much cheaper than the iPad, so it is not a direct competitor. It will be a good option for kids, which was the intended audience for my purchase. I am surprised that many apps which are free on IOS & Android will cost you on the Nook platform, so popular games like Angry Bird are not free. Overall a good platform that is easy to use, with some obvious quirks so its still not as intuitive as IOS on the iPad.
