We had an older version of this printer which we used in our warehouse to print shipping labels. It was a workhorse that printed clear and legible type. But one day it died. We purchased this model to replace it, and the transition was seamless. If you need a printer that will work hard, print clearly every time and last forever, this is your printer. It's not fancy, and not great for anything other than plain black and white printed type or barcodes. But what it does, it does well. The price is great but the toner cartridges can be a bit pricey. Luckily they last a long time even with heavy use.
Pros: Print quality good. Easy set up. Wireless capable. Cons: Not for people who do a lot of printing. No high capacity cartridge available as of this review. Toner costs more than printer. Bought this for my small business where we do a significant amount of printing. I like the speed, print quality and the small footprint, however the toner cartridge only comes in a 1500 page capacity. And this cost is even higher than the cost of the printer. While there are those who can probably refill the toner cartridges themselves, I've not delved into that. If you're not doing a significant amount of printing, it's great. If it's for business and you do print a lot, steer clear.
The set up took a while, I am not sure if I did it right but I end of with two printer set up, one for the USB and one for the wireless. In order for the wireless to work, the printer must connect to a computer via USB. The wireless range is decent and print quality is acceptable despite a bit light but for normal text and word is just fine. For $50, this printer does what it suppose to as a great personal wlaser printer
I got my first one when my HP all in one refused to accept a remanufactured ink cartridge. So I bought this slightly used Samsung for less than the price of the HP ink refill. It prints faster than the HP, it prints cleaner, its toner does not dry up, and the drum is replaced every time you buy new toner because the toner package includes a new drum and is also cheaper than HP ink. It prints cheaper per page, has no annoying pop ups about buying HP stuff, and does fast spreadsheets and charts, plus good grayscale pictures. If I want good colour prints I go to the drug store or a big box place and get a real color printer to do the job. PS I kept the HP to use as a scanner and fax machine.
This is the 3rd Samsung 2xxx series printer I've owned...and I bought this one because it's wireless, so I can reduce cable clutter on my computer desk...not because I wasn't happy with that it replaced. All of the Samsung laser printers I've owned are still in use, pumping out great copy, sheet after sheet without ever a need for repair. I just replace the toner cartridges when necessary...and even that is not necessary very often; the laser's per copy cost is a fraction of the cost of my inkjet's copies...so I use the inkjet only when color print is desirable. The Samsung 2xxx series machines are small, but they are as durable as any computer peripheral I've ever had, and the print quality is outstanding. The Samsung is my "go-to" printer for most of the work I do. I give the ML-2165W five stars *****!!!Read full review
