I love this photo scanner. I looked into taking my old photos to the local Walmart to have them scanned to disk. It was going to be so expensive. This machine has been wonderful. I was able to scan to both and ipad and a windows laptop with the FastFoto app. On the windows laptop, it scanned both front and back (which helped with photos dates and labels) and on the ipad, it scanned and optimized the photos in a very short time. Stacks of 30 photos took no time at all. So far I’ve scanned over 400 photos and I’m pleased with the results. I was able to create a cd on the windows machine that would allow me to add or subtract out photos. It acts like a portable drive. I can also make a disk that will play as a slide show when put in cd or DVD player. The only issue I had was a software issue. Epson was very fast to respond and do their best to resolve the issue. Love it!!!!Read full review

This is a fast way to scan a lot of photos at an acceptable quality if the photos are well lit. There is no way to get a good scan of dark photos which always have light streaks in them, or if they are scanned in the protective case they are much darker than the original. The pictures I added are a kind of "throw away" dark image I used for testing. One is the automatic enhancing done by the machine where you can really see the light streaks. One is the original by the machine without a protective case, the darkest one is with the protective case. None of them are an acceptable match for the original image. This scanner is unusable for dark photos, which usually aren't great photos anyway. This affects less than 5% of my collection, but I'm still left looking for another option for those photos. The other issue with this scanner is that it always leaves small scratches in the protective layer of the photo. They are only noticeable in the reflection of light off of them, but if you are really protective of your pictures, do not run them through this machine. That said, I've been able to scan a large collection of photos in a reasonable amount of time and complete a project that I would have otherwise never found time for. If you want to digitize a large collection, and don't mind small scratches, and having to scan dark photos in another way, this will make the job easier. Read full review

Great machine. Does exactly what it promises. Scans photos so quickly, including any notes on the flip side. Does auto color correction, but saves the original scan as well. You can include multiple sizes. There are so many options I haven't even begun to try them all.

Easy to use. Easily deals with different size photos in the same batch. No borders! Looks just like a digital photo. Copies back of photo automatically if it notices writing on it and labels that photo with “a” and “b”. Labels photos in a batch with same title. Really - very practical for converting bulk photos. Some additional tagging functionality would be nice, but meets my needs perfectly to finally dispose of boxes of photos that just sit in the garage.

This is an example of some pretty awesome technology that we have now. The back-of-the-picture scanning functionality isn't perfect, but a lot better than (1) nothing at all (2) scanning the back of every picture no matter what. My expectations were set for a C+ product, and this is an A-. Highly recommend. Scanned 3200 photos in less than a day, while doing other things.
