My Clear and Simple Review
It has been over thirty years since I started tying flies, with a long spell of not tying. I dug out my old books from the garage remembering how I used them often to tie many patterns of flies. They were old and out dated, mainly in publishing quality and lacking of some of the latest patterns. It was time to update my library as I was updating my fly tying kit/materials,rods,reels and fly lines. The book is very informative for beginners as well as those already with fly tying skills. It covers many different tying techniques used to tie a wide range of flies. The written instructions along with the very detailed pictures and renderings are very helpful. The problem/solution/suggestions coverage is unique and also of great help. Overall, this is a great book for somebody intersted in ... This book describes the tools and what they are used for. Describes most common materials and their use. It gives step by step instructions and illustrations for the more common dry flies, nymphs, streamers etc. At the end of the book are more patterns with the hook and materials listed that are used for each pattern. Follow the directions in this book and you will get a good solid foundation for tying all types of flies. This book and "The Orvis Fly Tying Guide" are both excellent.
