Whenever I think back to my childhood, Calvin and Hobbes is one of the first things that comes to mind. I'd read it in the car on the way to school nearly every morning in grade school. Now I'm 27 and a college graduate... and nothing has changed. I still own all the books and read them on a fairly regular basis. Quotes from the strips have become a part of my everyday language. It's gotten to the point where I can quote the strips from memory. All this being said, Calvin and Hobbes is a work of genius that I would recommend to anyone. Watterson is a genius who deserves his spot among the greats of literature.
Great graphics and hilarious, this book is nothing but fun as you flip the pages. The occasional colored “Sunday Paper” ‘toon gives you an break from the black& white. 165 pages in length, two cartoons per page is not enough to keep you occupied for long but you can pick it up and flip to any page and laugh again and again. It’s hard to put this one down. You are bound to see something you remember from the paper at some point. Enjoy this and all Bill Watterson Books!
I’m a fan and I can laugh and Calvin’s antics remembering some of the dumb stuff my brothers and I would get into. It’s worth the read anytime.
