If you like games made by creators that have passion and creativity imbued in their work than this one is a must buy. I’ve never played a game like this and I never will get to see another because Kenji Eno died in 2013. It’s tragic that this was his last game. D2 is a reminder of how trying out new multigenre gameplay mechanics can be a risk worth taking. It’s not for everyone but if you like twin peaks + the thing + house of the dead + myst all mashed into a weird flawed but interesting story then get it.

D2 for the Sega Dreamcast is, for its time, a game with an original story and style. The story is based around Laura: a character loosely based on Laura from D. People who have played through D will perhaps notice subtle elements transferred to D2, for example; small piano melodies and such. However, the game is nothing like its previous installment. Instead of roaming around pre-determined paths in a castle, you are here situated somewhere in the Canadian Artic. Mostly you will spend your time killing human-plant hybrids, getting experience points and exploring the different houses and cabins of the area. Unlike D1 you have the option to explore greater areas, but still, the environments are somewhat limited. There are also some nice additions to the game, such as hunting deer, rabbits, geese, moose and carribou. Also, the game has some nice gory cut scenes. The game manages to show of the capabilities off the Dreamcast in a nice way. In that respect, it is interesting to see how much games have evolved from 1999-2000, because, the age of the game clearly shows. My biggest complaint is the cut scenes, which tends to be very long, and they can not be skipped. Other issues can be that while exploring outside environments you will be dragged into fights in a typical rpg style without the chance of avoiding them (ala Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, etc.). Personally I have never liked that kind of battle system. It is a pity that the D series was not taken any further. Both D, D2 and Enemy Zero were quite original games in their time. D2 is a release definately worth getting for your Sega Dreamcast.Read full review
D2 is the type of game that feels refreshing in this day and age. It blends a variety of elements from point and click adventure games, third person survival horror games, first person shooters, and even RPGs. It is a unique experience and a must have for collectors of the Dreamcast.

Wandering around barren Canada was never more fun than in 2000 with this WARP classic. The graphics were decent for the time, the story remains confusing but enjoyable, and the atmosphere is perfect. The not so great features include the tank controls that require 15-20 minutes to get used to, a lot of backtracking, questionable voice acting from some of the actors, and the constant disc reading that makes my Dreamcast sound like a rifle that is being repeatedly loaded. Give it a try for under 30 bucks, and you might find the game heart warming (like a tentacle entering your heart).

For the 1st this game is pretty rare and usa is the only eng speak version. (never released in EU pal) Another thing is that its near impossible to make a back up of it cause you cant downsample the game enough to make it fit on 4x 700 MB CD because its a full 4x GDrom. The real sequal to D for psx and saturn. (not Enemy zero for saturn that many considered to be the sequal) It have the classic click n go system and some new cool stuff. It also combines rpg and shoot em up at the same time and of course some resident evil feeling in to it. Ill say worth adding to the DC before its away for good. havent succed in running it in the emulator yet due to its a big GDrom so get it!! Titan
A very good game for sega dreamcast that i wanted for a long time to play

The director of all of the "Laura" games (Kenji Eno) needs to give up trying to make games and work in cinema. After all, why is he working in games if his ambition is to make them so incredibly cinematic as to concentrate on this at the expense of gameplay. This game in not scary, the gameplay is repetitive and cumbersome. The environments are also extremely repetitive (does wandering around in a snowfleild for four hours at a time sound exciting to you?). This is an example of how NOT to make a survival horror game, cinematic or not.

I lovely this game. I decided to buy it because he has a good history, good graphics ( considering the years) and it is a very rare game for dreamcast. Ok, that's it.
