  • High Energy Rock'n'Roll ! !

High Energy Rockin' songs and performances from the legends of the Michigan Rock Scene...... The MC5. The MC5 were both cool and funny; with lyrics which encapsulated the aforementioned qualities(Sister Anne, Baby Won't Ya) and ranging to erotic(Miss X) to politically obtuse(The American Ruse- great guitar on that one) to charmingly bizarre and funny(Call Me Animal) to just plain strange(The Human Being Lawnmower) and beyond... Here is a snippet from CALL ME ANIMAL which is rather hilarious: "Call me animal, That's my name, Call me animal, I'm not ashamed, Call me animal, You got the power, Call me animal, This is your hour! Call me animal, animal, animal...." Hee, hee. Not sure what these guys were singing about here, so I'll have to investigate further, but the song cracks me up ...

  • MC 5

A group that wasn't accepted by the mainstream in the early 70's. The group has 2 albums listed by Rolling Stone magazine's 500 greatest of all time. The greatest hits cd covers the majority of their career.

  • the big bang: the best of the mc5- mc5 cd rhino 2000

if you are a new fan, an old fan ( like me )or just curious about the band, the music, the times, then this is the ultimate cd for you. it has stuff from the begining till the end.the only way you get get a better cd of the 5 is if they ever put out a complete set of everything they ever did.for the price though you can't beat this. just try and buy these songs in the form that each one was released, you would be broke ( if you could even find them )soooo my advice is to buy it and as my old buddy rob would say, " kick out the jams, mother sisters ". travis davidson******************

  • Awesome Power of the late 60's

I first became aware of the MC5 in 1968 and was fortunate enough to see them "live" in over 10 venues. Unfortunately their inital stage power was hard to maintain and overtime they no longer attacked the stage but rather approached it, and they came to rely less on their music and more on gimmicks like groupies massaging their bodies onstage to hold the audiences attention. This album, while lacking the finger in your face energy of the "Kick Out The Jams: Live at the Grande: Halloween Night 1968" experience none the less is very powerful and it captures a sense of excited energy about what at that time still laid ahead for these ground breaking power brokers of rock. Buy any MC5 you can find.

  • cool
