About this product

Product Information

Darren Silverman (Jason Biggs, AMERICAN PIE) and his pals Wayne (Steve Zahn) and J.D. (Jack Black) are close friends since high school who perform together in a Neil Diamond cover band. Enter Darren's shrewd psychologist bride-to-be Judith (Amanda Peet, THE WHOLE NINE YARDS), who constantly schemes to keep Darren from hanging out with his old slacker buddies. Anxious to hold onto their right to spend time with Darren, Wayne and J.D. decide that they must stop at nothing to prevent the wedding from taking place and reunite Darren with his first love--who is about to become a nun! Dennis Dugan's (HAPPY GILMORE) comedy attempts to harness the white-hot comedic talents of Zahn and Black, throwing in an inspirational appearance from Neil Diamond himself, to tell a hilarious tale of undying friendship.

  • Saving Silverman (DVD, 2001)

Darren (Jason Biggs of American Pie) is convinced that he'll never know love, since his one true love moved away during high school. To cheer him up, Darren's best friends Wayne (Steve Zahn, Out of Sight, That Thing You Do) and J.D. (Jack Black, High Fidelity) hook him up with Judith (Amanda Peet, The Whole Nine Yards)--little suspecting that Judith will tear their friendship apart. Judith wastes no time in taking over Darren's life, exiling his friends, and burning his beloved Neil Diamond records. If only Wayne and J.D. can bring Darren back together with his high school sweetheart (Amanda Detmer), who's about to become a nun. Saving Silverman is unquestionably of the There's Something About Mary school of comedy, throwing together absurd characters and over-the-top gags (for example, a ...

  • Spare no laughs for Saving Silverman!

This is the type of movie that one should not take lightly. With an all-star cast including Amanda Peet, Jack Black, Steve Zahn, and Jason Biggs, to name a few, you can't go wrong. Neil Diamond makes his 2nd debut, is that possible? in Saving Silverman. The shenanigans are abound and the laughter continues as we learn to love the well-develpoed characters and their antics. The soundtrack is exquisite, what with a sprinkling of Neil, as well as other well-loved tunes. This tells a well-written story of a young man (Biggs) so desperate for love that he, or more like his best friends (Black and Zahn) from grade school, find him involved in a relationship where he is a puppet and his fiance (Peet) the puppet master. His best friends then decide that this is not in the best interest of anyone ...

  • Saving Silverman

Great Movie! I bouught this movie because of Steve Zahn and Jack Black. Putting these guys together was a smart move because they really click together and make a great comedic team. There are a lot of laughs and excellent one-liners. The Coach is hilarious too! The plot involves a couple of guys that kidnap their other best friend's high powered fiance because they feel she is totally not for him--not to mention she doesn't want him to be their friend anymore. She feels they are too childdish and idiotic for him. But best friends since childhood are hard to separate, especially when another beautiful girl enters the picture. Enjoy the movie!
