The General - a GREAT Buster Keaton movie
A friend set up a special showing of this GREAT movie. I'd heard ov it and was familiar with the actual Civil War event on which it is based. I had no idea I would laugh so hard. I'm used to watching TV and vidoes with other things going on; you actually have to watch this ( or else you will only hear the FANTASTIC background music - more about that later ). Some is just old school slapstick, but this is what the school of slapstick was copying. My girlfriend was THRILLED with the soundtrack is is searching desperately for the cd by the Alloy Orchestra. Buster Keaton - A Great Double Feature
Films like these aren't made anymore ... and they should be. They record a part of Americana that has long since been forgotten by many folks. Pure slapstick - pure comedy without being confused by dialog. A wonderfully visual pastime.

The DVD was new in the box. It plays perfectly without problems. I bought it for the train chase scene in "The General" because my three year old grandson loves trains. Even though it is an old-fashioned silent black and white movie--he loved it, and I do too.
