About this product

Product Information

A delightfully dishy novel about the all-time most impossible boss in the history of impossible bosses. Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl fresh out of college, lands the job "a million girls would die for." Hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the high-profile, fabulously successful editor ofRunwaymagazine, Andrea finds herself in an office that shoutsPrada! Armani! Versace!at every turn, a world populated by impossibly thin, heart-wrenchingly stylish women and beautiful men clad in fine-ribbed turtlenecks and tight leather pants that show off their lifelong dedication to the gym. With breathtaking ease, Miranda can turn each and every one of these hip sophisticates into a scared, whimpering child. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA gives a rich and hilarious new meaning to complaints about "The Boss from Hell." Narrated in Andrea's smart, refreshingly disarming voice, it traces a deep, dark, devilish view of life at the top only hinted at in gossip columns and over Cosmopolitans at the trendiest cocktail parties. From sending the latest, not-yet-in-stores Harry Potter to Miranda's children in Paris by private jet, to locating an unnamed antique store where Miranda had at some point admired a vintage dresser, to serving lattes to Miranda at precisely the piping hot temperature she prefers, Andrea is sorely tested each and every day-and often late into the night with orders barked over the phone. She puts up with it all by keeping her eyes on the prize: a recommendation from Miranda that will get Andrea a top job at any magazine of her choosing. As things escalate from the merely unacceptable to the downright outrageous, however, Andrea begins to realize that the job a million girls would die for may just kill her. And even if she survives, she has to decide whether or not the job is worth the price of her soul. From the Hardcover edition.

This item didn’t come in exactly as pictured, but the seller responded immediately and was very gracious in offering me a partial refund even bough I wasn’t expecting one for what I paid for the item. I have bought from this seller before, and they are reputable and stand behind the products they sell. My other transactions with them have been perfect. Great communication. Packaging and price were good. Fairly fast shipping, too. Thanks.

This item came in exactly as pictured, and the seller posted immediately and was very gracious. I didn't ask for a partial refund. Why would I? I bought what I was expecting and received what I paid for the item. Not sure if I have bought from this seller before, but they are reputable and stand behind the products they sell. My future transactions with them will no doubt be perfect. Great communication. Packaging and price were good. Fairly fast shipping, too. Thanks.

  • The Devil DOES wear Prada!!!

Well first of all like any other 22 year old girl, I lovve Prada! So, in a sense I was helplessly drawn to this book because of its title. After I read the insert about how Andrea goes to work at a famous fashion magazine, Runway, compared to our Vogue and Glamour, I was even more interested. I thought, what a great job that must be, and also how challengeing. So I bought it and dove right in! Andrea, fresh out of college goes to work as a PA to a horrendous woman, and head editor of Runway, Miranda. From the beginning her every move is questioned and critized but she trudges on so she can get that perfect resume to work for The New Yorker. The book is filled with high fashion, glamour, drama, love, and humour. As I read it I fell in love with Andrea, her boyfriend, and even the ...

  • Good book better movie

Very seldom do I find a movie I liked better than the book. The book was O.K. but it lacked a true story. The movie had a rise, climax and fall. I was shocked by the odd changes like her boyfriend went from Alex the teacher to Nate the chef and her other friends were very different and YES she did have "relations" with the irresistable Christian the movie was perfect. The book was like reading a boring diary.

  • The Devil Wears Prada

I loved that it tells a story that almost every girl would love to dream about, just for a day...or even two!! A girl who is transformed from nobody to a somebody just because of who she works for. Every girl wants to have the perfect job with the best clothes, for free! Didn't dislike anything.

  • Better then the movie!

A funny, funny book. You will find yourself laughing outloud. The book has much better character development which was lacking in the movie. Is even funnier if you have known anyone who worked on 7th Avenue.

  • A GREAT LAUGH!

A very entertaining story as told by the diligent assistant. Reminds one of our own rough spots in life where we try to succeed and advance our careers.
