About this product

Product Information

The top-rated NBA 2K series continues on Xbox 360 with revamped player models, more signature moves, and a deeper online experience. The Sprite Slam Dunk Contest held in Las Vegas is playable on- and offline, allowing up to four players to compete against the top slam specialists from around the NBA. On offense, players can control either the ball-handler or a nearby teammate to perform alley oops, establish screens, and to get into position near the basket. Players can also customize free throws, dribbles, and dunks based on a star's real-life tendencies and attributes. On defense, the right analog stick is used to run defensive sets, "body-up" the ball handler, and more.

The career-like Association mode allows would-be coaches to assign individual roles, carefully manage playing time, and build team morale. Simulation junkies will appreciate a more dramatic interface for simming games, with "SimCentral" displaying real-time stats, injuries, and other up-to-date information. The online experience is enhanced with a sports-themed news ticker, customizable front page, and two-player cooperative action against a computer team. Kevin Harlan and Kenny Smith return for commentary duties, with user-controlled wrap-up footage during post-game analysis. The soundtrack features music from such recording artists as Common, Q-Tip, Run DMC, and the Stone Roses.

  • A great Basketball game, better than 2k7

Gameplay and graphics are improved over 2k7 and now that this game is so cheap its a great deal. I have alot of fun playing this game alone or with friends. The character models looks much more lifelike than in 2k7 but some player still look weird. The control is simple enough for new players or deep enough if you want to learn more advanced moves. They got rid of the "story mode" called 24/7 and its fine with me. They added in blacktop mode that is a series of events like slam dunk contest (it takes some practice to learn), 3pt shoot out, 3 on 3, 4 on 4 street ball type games ect. another great thing is that under My NBA option you can adjust the sliders in the game to make it play the way you want it too. This is not as good as NBA 2k10, just out as of this review, but its not $60 ...

  • Ruuning right past Nba live, 2k8 is a smash!

Somehow 2k8 seemed o improve from its last installment 2k7. Graphics are more crisp and smooth, the crown is louder than ever, and so realistic. I have both NBA live 08 and NBA 2k8. By far NBA 2k8 is better. It has all new mechanics so where every player reflects every move of its realife counter part. That Kobe Bryant fade away, they got it, that Lebron dunk they got it. From the no shows to the playmakers they all use the same movement as the players in the NBA. One of the great things about this game is that you feel like you are actually watching a real basketball game, the announcers are great, they are the real ones from the TV broadcasts. The breaks are great, the replays are also pretty good, and the halftime show and post game states are pretty neat. The graphics arnt the best ...

  • NBA 2K8 or NBA LIVE 08

NBA LIVE 08 has great graphics and is actually a fun game to play. Unfortunatelty, thats about it. Yes it's improved dramatically this year; LIVE 08 is smooth, glitches have been fixed, and game play is less arcade and more simulated. HOWEVER, NBA 2K8 is as realistc as you can get to the real thing. if you want to play real basketball, go with NBA 2K8. but if you want something for the kids, get LIVE 08. I WILL PROBABLY BUY BOTH. LIVE 08 to play with my NEPHEWS; NBA 2K8 to play with MY CREW !!! ONLINE. ONLINE GAME PLAY FOR ALL SPORTS GAMES, 2K SPORTS IS THE KING!!! TRUTH.

  • NBA 2K8 (xbox 360)

The simulation of the player characteristics and signature moves are better than NBA Live 08. However I noticed a glitch in dunk contest, the shorts of players sometimes disappear.? As for pros and cons, I like the dunk contest in Live 08 better as it is more realistic with the judges and score card. Even though I like you can use props on 2k8. Graphics are slighty better on 2k8. I noticed that playing against the cpu is more difficult in 2k8 and sometimes unrealistic how the cpu being down many points towards the end can make many miracle plays and win even on pro level which is one up from pro level. Overrall a great game if you dont pay over $30 for it.

  • NBA 2K8 - Too many problems

Let me start by saying that I like sports games and I've played every 2k game made. When I first bought the game, I played it on the default settings and found it to be way too easy. I was winning games by 30+ points. So I decided to try the harder difficulties and after a while I started playing on "Hall of Fame", which is the hardest the game offers. Firstly, let me start with what is wrong with this game and why these things make this game unrealistic and no fun: 1. It doesn't really matter what team you're playing. Depending on how lucky you get, they'll all score between 90-100 points a game. I played about 30 games in a season and the low opponent score was 85 and the high was 104. Not a large range. 2. This next reason is the most unrealistic and frustrating aspect of this ...
