Better than HEPA in many ways
This machine works great! And its versatility in being able to function horizontally and vertically is truly a blessing for those that don't have table top space for another gizmo. I have read some poor reviews regarding the Truman Cell technology, but it does have the ability to remove particles smaller than a fresh HEPA filter can. Particles that can lodge deepest in the lungs. So it may not be as efficient as HEPA for a single pass through the electronic precipitator , but over time it will clean the air of ultrafine smoke and the tiniest particulate matter. This passes right through a HEPA filter and remains as a dirty fog in a room serviced by HEPA filtration only. Final bonus is that there is there is virtually no restriction to air movement through a Truman Cell, which means the ... This machine works great! Absolutely Love this!!
I was hesitant to buy because of the price. But My doctor recommended it. We finally bought it and we have it in our bedroom. As soon as I plugged it in I could literally smell the clean. It actually smelled like fresh washed laundry. Clean, clean air smell. I'm not exaggerating either. We absolutely love it!!

Remember, there are different models. The 12gu is the one with the UV. Somewhere I read that airliners may use UV in their air makeup system,as they confined and need to control/kill viruses/bacteria/odors. Our place is 35 years old and has been "renovated' by who knows. Lots of sloppy work so our environment suffers[suffered] from air quality. We also have two cats, hummm. These air purifiers are tops as we had one before. I opted this time to buy a refurb. and am so pleased to have an ORECK back in the house. The air even looks clearer, that how good these are. Do as the manual says to do and your ORECK will take care of you. No,not a spokesperson,just pleased as punch to be breathing clean again.Remember, there are different models. Cleans the air excellently.
While the fan on high is somewhat loud, it is still well worth using. The quality of air is so much improved! I have asthma and with it being allergy season this is helping better than medication!
