An American G.I. lingers in Paris after the war to study painting and soon falls in love with Caron, an engaged mademoiselle, much to the chagrin of his romance-minded benefactress. Features a seventeen-minute, avant-garde ballet choreographed by Kelly to George Gershwin's unbeatable melodies. Academy Award Nominations: 8, including Best Director.     Title says it all.

    Gene Kelly was an exceptional dancer and choreographer. His films always entertain. Leslie Caron was fabulous in her first film. The story line is great. The pianist was unbelievably brilliant. There is a ballet sequence that warrant special mention. Fantastic! Great all-round entertainment. Highly recommended.

    Great entertainment

    I remember seeing this film, and enjoying it, when it was first out more than sixty ago. I've not had a chance to look at this copy but if it's as good as other reprints I've bought on ebay, and I'm sure it will be, I'll be very pleased. Practically all the musical movies made in the 1950s were very entertaining. To be entertained is what I what from a film and you can't beat the 1950s musicals for that.

    Having watched one of the dance sequences I knew I had to buy the movie . The dance sequences are stunning and worth watching over and over again . Gene Kelly was not just a wonderful dancer but also possessed a soothing singing voice
